A little Gossip About "Mile Jab Hum Tum"
'Hi I'm Annie' is by-far the most popular greeting on the sets. Hazel (who plays the character of Annie) had a peculiar way of saying 'Hi I'm Annie' when she introduced herself to the Morena cousins in one of the initial episodes. Since then, the adage has caught up and when actors arrive on the set, instead of saying hi's or hello's or even good-morning's - greet each other with the customary 'Hi I'm Annie'.
Benji (played by Abhishek) is a very good actor not just in front of the camera, but off camera also. He has the knack for mimicking co-actors and crew members and keeps every one rolling with laughter in between shots as well as in the green room.
The Auditorium sequence -Nupur Mayank Salsa audition was shot in an actual educational institution brimming with under-grad students. The moment the students realized that the entire lead cast of 'Miley Jab Hum Tum' was present in their institution premise, a mini riot broke out, although the authorities kept a strict check on the same. There were girls swarming Samrat and Mayank, taking autographs and cliking snaps on their mobile phones, going weak in the knees every time they stepped for the impromptu Photo-Op. Quite a few guys found their way to Nupur, Gunjan and Diya as well and were making the most of the opportunity to strike a conversation with the girls, while some of them stood at a distance and kept staring star-struck at the girls. Needless to say, the cast loved every bit of the attention they got from their newfound fans.
A funny incident once happened in the make-up rooms - Nupur and Gunjan were changing for their scene and had locked the room from the inside; what they didn't know however was that the room could open from the outside, even though locked on the inside, if somebody were to leave the key in the door knob.In the rush to change for the next scene, the girls forgot the key in the lock outside. And of all the people who could be at the wrong place at the wrong time, it turned out to be none other than their city bro Uday. An unsuspecting Uday generally turned the key in the door knob and much to his horror and the girls embarrassment, the door opened. Luckily, nothing untoward happened and people got back to their usual self after laughing off the incident.
Every Indian it seems has a penchant for singing, irrespective of the fact that they may not qualify for even bathroom singing. Yet, sing they will and this is reflected in our lead artists Nupur and Gunjan as well. In between shots, Nupur takes off, followed by an apprehensive Gunjan. Apparently the confidence Nupur has in singing is not shared by Gunjan, who has developed the habit of covering her face with her dupatta and singing really softly so that not many are given the privilege of listening to hear her sweet voice.
"Tu pause nahin lega… pause le var na cut nahin milega" - These are not the director's words but our actor Gunjan's, directed at our lead star Samrat. Samrat is an actor in the making and has quite a few people around to guide him. One of them is the talented Gunjan who almost takes on the baton of polishing Samrat's acting skills unto herself, quite often during shots, as is evident from the conversation quoted above. Sometimes like a teacher, sometimes like a friend, sometimes a co-actor... there's a lot Samrat gets to learn unwittingly.
